Twin Lakes Fire 95% Contained

(Photo by Information Officer Kary Maddox) According to a report put out by the BLM Wind River/Big Hiorn Basin District on Friday, August 26, the Twin Lakes fire which is 19 miles south-southwest of Meeteetse has burned 1,579 acres and is now 95% contained since it was first reported on August 8. The fire was caused by lightning. The BLM Worland Field Office, in conjunction with Hot Springs County, still has temporarily closed off Grass Creek Road above the junction with Little Grass Creek Road and Enos Creek Road above the last oil and gas tank battery, but those closures will be lifted by Saturday, August 27 once fire operations are be turned over to the District by that time.
