Big Horn County Montana Sheriff's officials and the Mine Safety and Health Administration are on scene investigating the cause.

Cloud Peak Energy is expected to provide updated information as the investigation progresses. Rocky Mountain Ambulance responded last night at 7:45 pm to the scene.

Spring Creek Mine is located in southern Montana, about 35 miles north of Sheridan in Big Horn County. It has received multiple safety awards in the past.
