Gillette Boys Take First Loss; Girls Soccer Wins Fifth Straight

The Gillette Boys Soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, Saturday afternoon, as the second-ranked Camels were beaten on the road, 2-1, by top-ranked Laramie. The loss followed a 4-1 win, Friday, at Cheyenne South.

The Gillette Girls soccer team is now winners of five straight games, as the Lady Camels picked up a pair of wins over the weekend. On Friday, Gillette got two goals from Taylor Wilde, and one goal apiece from Emma Juriewicz, Kenisha Melanson, Ciara Nice, and Ashley Wilcox, as they blanked Cheyenne South, 6-0. Kendra Sosa had two assists in the win, Sam Phillips had one assist.

On Saturday, the Lady Camels knocked off Laramie, 3-1. Melanson had two goals and one assist. Sosa had a goal and an assist. Wilcox also chipped in an assist.

The Gillette boys are now 7-1-2, and are in second place behind Laramie in Class 4A East. They'll host Cheyenne East, this Friday, and Cheyenne Central on Saturday.

The Gillette Girls are 8-3, and are in fourth place in Class 4A East. They're on the road, Friday and Saturday, against Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central.
