Gillette Girls Take First, Boys 2nd at Camel Qualifier

The Gillette Girls track team took first, and the boys were seond behind Kelly Walsh, Friday, as both teams closed out the regular season in the Camel Qualifiers.

The Camel Girls got first place finishes from Haley Urbatsch, in the 400 meter dash; Sidney Wendt, in the 800 meter run; Quinn DeStefano, in the 1600 meter run; Tabith Simmons, in the 3200 meter run; and Liz Maller, in the shot put.

Maller took second in the discus. Also placing second, for the Gillette girls, were Abby Phillips, in the 1600 meter run; Jessie Geer, in the 100 meter hurdles; Abby Moerkerke, in the 300 meter hurdles; Ashlynn Erisman, in the pole vault; and Ruth Sifuma, in the triple jump.

Gillette's third place finishers included Bre Adsit, in the 100 meter dash; Sidney McClure, in the 200 meter dash; Breann Clemetson, in the 400 meter dash; Abby Moerkerke, in the 100 meter hurdles; McKenna Massman, in the high jump; Chandra Sturtz, in the pole vault; and Julia Seamans, in the long jump.

Dustin Erisman, Zach Clark, and Kris Adams, placed first, second and third, respectively, in the pole vault, for the Gillette boys, who also got a first place finish, in the triple jump, from Beau Nutting.

Second-place finishers, for the Camel boys, included Derek Myers, in the 1600 meter run; Harrison Simmons, in the 3200 meter run; and Walker Newell, in both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.

Tichun Aipperspach placed third in the 200 meter dash; as did Logan Myers, in the 400 meter dash; Derek Myers, in the 800 meter run; Justin Mehrer, in the 3200 meter run; and Seth Moerkerke, in the 300 meter hurdles.

The Camel boys and girls teams compete in Regionals, this Friday and Saturday, at Cheyenne South.
