Gillette, Moorcroft Take First at Wrestling Regionals

The Campbell County High School wrestling team accumulated 264.5 team points to take first place, in resounding fashion, over the weekend at Class 4A East Regionals, in Sheridan.

Sheridan was second with 186 team points. Cheyenne East took third with 183.

The Camels got first place finishes from Taylor Jeffries, at 113 pounds; Evan Smith, at 120 pounds; Kris Miller, at 152 pounds; Jordan Fischer, at 160 pounds; and Brandon MacKearney, at 195 pounds.

Logan Wagoner took second, for Gillette, at 138 pounds; as did Robert Perry, at 170 pounds; Carson Mock, at 182 pounds; and Zach Taylor at 220 pounds.

Third place finishers, for the Camels, included Austin Cunningham, at 106 pounds; Chris Moodry, at 132 pounds; Alex LaCasse, at 145 pounds; Zachary Clark, at 160 pounds; and Patrick Johnson, at 182 pounds.

The Camels got fourth place finishes from Lane Barbour, at 152 pounds; Brandon Shelstad, at 220 pounds; and Chance Yanzik, at heavyweight.

The Moorcroft Wrestlers dominated Class 2A East Regionals, at Southeast.

The Wolves got seven first place finishes from seven team members, as they registered 244.5 team points. Burns/Pine Bluffs took second with 113.

First place finishers, for Moorcroft, included Trey Fischbach, at 106 pounds; Dallas Taylor, at 113 pounds; Kole Schell, at 120 pounds; Toby Reynolds, at 138 pounds; Cameron Braden, at 170 pounds; and Tel West, at 182 pounds.

Tate Allison took second, for the Wolves, at 145 pounds. Rowdy Cranston was third at 126 pounds, as was Coulter Buhler at 160 pounds, Dylan Humes at 106 pounds, and Thomas Painter at 132 pounds.

Brett Wassberg and Tanyon Gray took fourth, for the Wolves, at 138 and 195 pounds, respectively.

Wright’s Kodiak French took first, for the Panthers, at 160 pounds. Alex Ferguson was second, at 152 pounds.

Round One, of the State Wrestling Tournament, starts Friday at 9 a.m.
