Late free throws down Camels

GILLETTE, Wyo.--Steven Schaefer of Rapid City Stevens (9-1) is good. He finished with an unofficial 43 points against the Gillette Camels (11-3) and made the last two free throws of the game to give the Raiders the 69-68 win Saturday night.

The Camels and Raiders battled hard in a game with plenty of streaks for both teams. Gillette had a 31-28 lead at halftime. The Camels had a double-digit at one point in the first half.

In the second half, the Raiders had a streak of their own. They came back to take a lead off the arm of Schaefer. He averaged in the mid 20s coming into the game and scored 15 points in the third quarter. He carried the Raiders in the fourth quarter with 16 more points in the fourth.

Gillette had a 68-67 lead with seconds left in the game. Cody Kelley was charged for his fifth foul in the game on Schaefer with 11.1 second left in the game. Schaefer made the first free throw to tie it at 68 and the second to give Rapid City Stevens a 69-68 victory. Cale Miessler put up a three-point look from the right wing as time expired, but was off the mark.
