Little Big Horn College makes Pronghorns fight for 17th straight win

GILLETTE, Wyo.--It wasn't easy, but the (#18) Gillette College Pronghorn men (18-2, 7-0) won their 17th straight game on Wednesday night. Gillette College defeated the Little Big Horn College Rams, 108-93, at the South Campus.

Don't let that 108-93 score fool you. Little Big Horn College had a 47-46 lead going into halftime. That was with the help of the Rams success beyond the arc, as they made 10 of their 21 attempts in the first stanza.

In the second half, the Rams were able to keep the lead from the Pronghorns for almost 11 and a half minutes. Most of the time in that period, the Rams were up by six or seven points, as the Pronghorns were able to cut it down to as little as a point. However, the Rams were able to pad their lead with a triple or getting through the Pronghorn defense.

It wasn't until the 8:33 mark when Lorenzo Bonham took it from one end of the court to the other to give Gillette College a 78-77 lead. At that point, the momentum stayed in Gillette's favor.

In the second half, the Rams got into foul trouble by the halfway mark. Gillette College took advantage of the opportunities, going 17 for 22 from the line in the second period. Three of those were off Dwight Anderson, who went three-for-four off back-to-back technical fouls called on Quinton Everett and Rams Head Coach Pete Conway III.

The Pronghorns were 21 for 36 from the field in the second half.

Muhammad Ahmed led the Pronghorns with 25 points and 12 rebounds, with four other players scoring 11 or more points.

Marty Wallace of the Rams led all players with 38 points. Everett was right behind him with 36 points.

Gillette College remains one game ahead of the Casper College Thunderbirds in the North Sub-Region of the Region IX. The Pronghorns will put that first place standing on the floor, as they play the Thunderbirds in Casper on Saturday.
