Lummis Votes For Benghazi Select Committee

Press Release - U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis voted for and the House passed H.R. 567, Providing for the Establishment of the Select Committee on the Events Surrounding the 2012 Terrorist Attack in Benghazi. Up to this point investigations of the Benghazi tragedy have been conducted by multiple committees including the House Oversight and Government Reform, on which Representative Lummis serves as the Vice Chair of the National Security Subcommittee.

“This newly established select committee headed by Rep. Gowdy is the tool we need to get to the bottom of this scandalous tragedy,” said Rep. Lummis.  “The Administration continues to obfuscate the facts and stonewall our investigation and that is why we are compelled to establish this special committee for the investigation.  We owe the truth of what happened to the families of those four Americans; we owe the truth to our diplomats abroad; and we owe the truth to the American people.  We must know, once and for all, what was done or not done, and how we can assure our constituents and public servants that it will not happen again.”
