Pronghorn women win an ugly one against Little Big Horn

GILLETTE, Wyo.--It was most likely the worst first half in the school's history for the Gillette College women (13-7, 5-2) on Wednesday night. Despite that, the Pronghorns were able to get a 65-52 win over the Little Big Horn College Lady Rams.

Neither team scored until over three minutes ticked off the clock in the first half. There were four lead changes in the first half, with Little Big Horn College taking a 27-21 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Gillette College went nine for 37 from the field, missed all 15 three-point attempts and was three for 10 from the line in the first half. The Pronghorns' Kallee Wilson had the team's only three-pointer (out of 23 attempts) in the second half. The triple that was made was strong off the back of the iron, and gave Wilson a fortuitous bounce straight through the net.

Sophomores Alicia Carline and Kiela Garner led the Pronghorns to come from seven points down, to take a 34-32 lead. The Lady Rams Tied it up at 34, but Gillette College broke the tie into an 8-0 run. From that point on, Gillette College had the lead in the game.

Carline led all scorers with 17 points and 13 boards, while Garner also finished with double digits at 13 points.

Western Wyoming College defeated Northwest College Wednesday night and next-to-last Central Wyoming College won at the buzzer on the road in Sheridan. Western Wyoming holds the first place in the North-sub region at 7-1, Northwest College is second at 6-2, and Gillette College is third at 5-2.

Gillette College will go on the road Saturday to play Casper College.
