The Gillette Roughriders went 2-2, in four games, at the Rich Hinseth Tournament, in Rapid City, over the weekend.
The Riders fell, 5-2, Friday morning, to Sioux Falls West. Josh Hughes had a double and an RBI for Gillette.
The Roughriders bounced back, Friday afternoon, with a 12-6 win over Brandon Valley. Ian Durgin had a big day on the mound, and at the plate.
Durgin went 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. He was also the winning pitcher, striking out five batters over seven innings, allowing nine hits and two earned runs.
Sioux Falls West knocked off the Riders again, 3-2, Saturday afternoon, with the winning run coming in the seventh inning.
Alex King and Jaylen Christopherson each went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Tyler Tennant struck out five batters, and allowed six hits and two earned runs on the mound.
The Riders collided with Brandon Valley, in a high scoring affair, late Saturday afternoon. The two teams combined for 37 runs, and totaled 32 hits, nine of which went for extra bases.
King was 5-for-6 with two doubles and three RBIs. Tennant was 2-for-6 with 2 doubles and three RBIs. Lucas Rissler went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, and an RBI. Durgin was 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs.
Wyatt Estabrook got the win on the mound. He struck out seven batters, over six innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs.
