The Campbell County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the weekend stabbing that landed a 36-year-old man in The Campbell County Detention Center and 21-year-old female in the hospital. Campbell County Sheriff Bill Pownall said Tuesday morning that the details surround the case remain under investigation. Pownall said the man apparently gave a false name and date of birth when arrested. Authorities now believe his name is Charles Robinson and he is 36.
Pownall said investigators discovered the suspect is wanted on a murder warrant from the state of New Mexico. Investigator Gary Sams said he believes that warrant was issued this year, but he could not provide details on the case.
As for local charges, Pownall said they hope to have the suspect before a judge today. Pownall said the suspect has been uncooperative and they are not able to release a motive for this weekend's stabbing.

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A suspect wanted for the murder of a Tijeras man last month, has been captured.
Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputies say Charles Robinson was taken into custody in Gillette, Wyoming.
According to the criminal complaint, Robinson and Thomas Manuel got into a fight.
A witness told deputies It appeared the two had resolved their differences, but then Robinson pulled a gun and shot Manuel.
Robinson is charged with murder.
He is now awaiting extradition back to New Mexico.

A 39-year-old male is in custody as an attempted manslaughter suspect. A 21-year-old female is recovering from what Campbell County Sheriff Bill Pownall described as a life threatening stab wound to her chest area. The incident allegedly happened on the 1300 block of Hilltop Road. Pownall describe the 39-year-old suspect as new to Campbell County.
“He was currently residing in that residence on Hilltop, but he just recently got to town.”--- Pownall
Pownall said the stabbing was discovered after the victim went to a neighbors.
“She initially didn't want to go to the hospital, she wanted a ride to a friend's house. They (the neighbors) in turn brought her to the Campbell County Sheriffs Office. Initially the PD (Gillette Police Department) arrived to meet with the individual and it was determined rather quickly that she was a stabbing victim. She was immediately transported to the hospital. After a little more investigation it was determined that the crime occurred in the county.”---Pownall
The suspect was taken into custody after a random traffic stop in Johnson County by the Wyoming Highway Patrol. He is now in custody at the Campbell County Detention Center.
Pownall said the initial call related to the incident was received at 12:43 in the morning on June 8th.
Pownall said besides the stab wound, the victim appeared to have been beaten. Investigators are still looking into the man's alleged various aliases and a motive.
