State Tennis Starts Thursday in Gillette

The Gillette Tennis teams competed, Friday and Saturday, in Class 4A North Regionals, at Kelly Walsh High School.  In the boys’ number one singles bracket, Gillette’s Sam Coulter was beaten 6-4, 6-4 in the championship match by Sheridan’s Reed Ritterbusch.

The Camels’ Gabe Belden was the consolation bracket champion after he registered a 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 win over Bryan Junge of Kelly Walsh.

Gillette’s number one doubles team of Hinkel and Vetter won their championship match as the Camel boys placed first, as a team, with 53 total points.  Sheridan and Cody tied for second with 52.

The Gillette Girls tennis team totaled 55 points to take first as well.

Number one singles player Madsion Hinshaw won the consolation bracket with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Cody’s Taylor Blough.

In number two singles, Gillette’s Lauren Miller was the runner-up after falling in the championship match.  Gillette’s number one doubles team of Sanders and Cook were also runners-up, as were the Camels’ number three doubles team.  The number two doubles team of Knutson and Adsit won their championship match against a duo from Powell.

The State Tournament starts, this Thursday, in Gillette.
