rumors has come up with a list of things we should all stop worrying
1) Drinking eight glasses of water a day - Since
1945, we've been told to consume eight glasses of fluid daily. Before
long, most of us believed we needed to drink eight glasses of water each
day. The truth: Water's great, but you can also drink juice, tea,
milk and vegetable juice and yes, even coffee.
2) Stress will turn your hair gray - So far, no real scientific evidence exists that a bad day turns your hair gray.
3) Reading in poor light ruins your eyes - The truth: Reading in dim
light can strain your eyes (according to Dr. Nancy L. Snyderman). But
you won't do any permanent damage (except maybe crow's feet).
4) Coffee's really bad for you - The truth: Too much may give you the
jitters, but coffee does have a lot of positives. It gives your brain a
boost and has no effect on heart disease.
5) Fresh is always better than frozen - The truth: Newer studies have
found that saturated and trans fats in a person's diet, not dietary
cholesterol, are more likely to raise the risk of heart disease.
6) Get cold, and you'll catch a cold - The truth:
Mom was wrong. Getting cold does not hurt your immunity, unless you're
so cold your body's defenses are destroyed (that only occurs during
hypothermia). The reason people get more colds in the winter has
nothing to do with temperature, but may be the result of being cooped up
in closed spaces and exposed to the spray of cold viruses.
