At 10:39 last night, the Gillette Police Department responded to the South Fork Apartments on the 4500 block of Running W Drive, where a dangerous situation had recently come to an end.

City of Gillette Police Sergeant Chuck Deaton explains, “A 52-year old male reported while inside an apartment with a 31-year old, the 31-year old attacked him unprovoked with a kitchen knife.”

The 31-year old male was reported to be Dimitry Krishta.

The incident began with “Four adult males at the apartment” according to Corporal Brent Wasson.  “31-year old Dimitry [Krishta] the party that was arrested had been drinking the majority of the day.  The other three arrived home from work and they drank a little bit with him.”

Krishta and the 52-year old male then began wrestling.  After losing the match, Krishta became upset with the 52-year old and grabbed a 9 ½ inch kitchen knife.

At that point the 52-year old fled the apartment and attempted to hold the apartment door closed from the outside.  Krishta, still inside the apartment, broke the handle off the door.

Just then, according to the police report, the 52-year old felt like he had to resort to self-defense.  As a result, the entire situation ended up worse for Krishta.

“He struck the 31-year old [Krishta] in the face multiple times with a closed fist” Deaton added.

The 51-year old was eventually able to knock the knife out of Krishta’s hands, and eventually knocked Krishta unconscious for a short period of time.

According to the report, Krishta received significant injuries to his face and was transported to the Campbell County Memorial Hospital.

Krishta was also “extremely intoxicated, he vomited and was bleeding” according to Wasson.

Krishta was treated and released and is currently being held at the Campbell County Detention Center.  Krishta is currently facing a misdemeanor charge of reckless endangering.
