Campbell County Memorial Hospital has initiated visiting restrictions to the Maternal Child, Labor and Delivery and Nursery Departments due to a recent rise in confirmed cases of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection.
Visiting is limited to spouse or significant other and grandparents. This means that children under 12 years old are not allowed to visit the Obstetrics and Nursery Units.
“Newborns are at a higher risk for contracting RSV than the general population”, according to Baerbel Merrill, CCMH Vice President of Mission. “We understand that it’s disappointing when people can’t visit their loved ones, particularly at such a happy time. Our first concern is the health and safety of our patients. I want to thank everyone in advance for their patience and cooperation.”
