Enchantment Theatre, the company who brought you Harold and the Purple Crayon and The Velveteen Rabbit, presents Sylvester and the Magic Pebble on stage at the CAM-PLEX Heritage Center on Monday night.
When Sylvester, a winsome young donkey, picks up a shiny red pebble, its magic spins a heart-warming story that reveals to him the true importance of family and friends. With life-size puppets, masked actors, magical illusions, innovative sets and costumes, and original musical score, Enchantment Theatre transforms this Caldecott Medal-winning book into a delightful adaptation for the stage.
Who will love Sylvester? Everyone from young children all the way up to their grandparents – anyone who believes in happy endings.
CAM-PLEX Theater Manager Jaymi Gilmour concurs, saying Sylvester and the Magic Pebble is a show the entire family will enjoy. As well, Gilmour says the production company creates shows that are really good for children to see.
“I just love them [Enchantment Theater] because they really do great things for kids,” explains Gilmour. “They really understand how movement and color really captivate young children. So I think they’re a great company.”
Sylvester and the Magic Pebble is part of the Theater Center’s Arts in Education programming for the second grade.
