A pickup was stolen just before 6:00 a.m. Friday morning from a home on Ichabod Avenue after its owner started it so it could warm up while he went back inside for a shower.

“Deputy Trevor Osborn found the vehicle parked over in Antelope Valley on Antler and Wolf Road in a driveway,” explains Corporal Scoot Appley with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies approached the vehicle with caution after the 25-year old victim told law enforcement that a .22 caliber handgun was in the vehicle.

“Trevor’s covering me from the other side and I open up the door and I’m saying, ‘Just step out of the vehicle’ and I have a hold of him arm and he goes resistive right away, and right by his leg I can see the gun sticking out,” says Appley.

The 21-year old suspect continued to resist, and he was put to the asphalt by deputies.  The suspect damaged a tooth in the struggle.

The suspect was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.  Appley adds they are also considering charging the suspect with DUI.

“He said he went out drinking last night with some buds,” Appley says.  “He doesn’t remember taking the car. He doesn’t remember anything until he’s driving to the jail handcuffed.”
