Congratulations to Riders senior shortstop Westin Hinkel for being selected to the Big Sky Baseball Fall Select Team.
Big Sky Baseball is a fall program based out of Three Forks Montana, which combines kids from Montana, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Hinkel will play on the Junior/Senior Select Team and they will compete against other high school kids across the country, as well as college kids.
They will attend tournaments in Denver CO, Billings MT, Rapid City SD, Salt Lake City UT, Pasco WA, and Peoria AZ.
Hinkel hit .348 as a junior, with 66 RBI and 20 stolen bases. On the mound he went 7-4, with 7 saves. He earned 1st team All-State honors as a junior.
"This program takes a lot of dedication, but that is the type of kid that Westin is,” said Riders coach Nate Perleberg. “This is a great way for him to continue playing against great competition, as well as be exposed in front of numerous college and pro scouts all fall long. I look for him to really benefit from this opportunity both as a player and as an individual. This is something that we hope to continue to send kids from our program to in the future.”
