CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Garrett Angell, of Lovell, says the lure of possibly playing one day for the Wyoming Cowboys is too much to ignore even if it means he has to join the team as a walk-on.
The 6-foot-6, 330-pound lineman helped lead Lovell to the state Class 2A state championship this past fall. He was a Class 2A West all-conference selection, anchoring the 2A's top rushing defense and paving the way for Lovell's second-ranked rushing offense.
Angell tells the Casper Star-Tribune that he looked at smaller colleges but decided to accept UW's preferred walk-on offer.
Angell says his plan is to work hard and compete for a position on the offensive line, an area of need for the Cowboys. UW on Wednesday signed five offensive linemen.
