CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming State Senate is moving to restrict public access to information from state agencies and local governments.

The Senate on Monday approved an amendment sponsored by Sen. Bruce Burns, a Sheridan Republican, that specifies state agencies and political subdivisions wouldn't have to disclosure the records and recommendations that public officials relied on in reaching a final decision.

Mark Harris with the Wyoming Association of Municipalities says the amendment would clarify existing state law.

Jim Angell with the Wyoming Press Association says his group will push to remove the amendment. He says it would create too much potential for abuse by public officials.

The Senate also approved Burns' amendment specifying materials must be sent to at least a quorum of members of a public body to qualify as public records.
