GILLETTE, Wyo.--The Gillette Camel boys soccer team won two out of three games at the Casper Jamboree. Saturday Gillette beat Kelly Walsh 2-1 and Green River 3-1. Gillette's only loss came against Natrona as the Mustangs won 2-0. Next up for the Camel

A pilot from Thermopolis landed his plane on US Highway 20 about 6 miles north of Thermopolis because of problems with the engine on Friday afternoon, March 27. The Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Department responded to the site stating that the pilot reported that the engine in his plane malfunctioned which forced him to land it on US Highway 20. Sheridan Fire-Rescue, one of the responding agencies to yesterday's fire at 86 North Park Road, released additional information on that fire Sunday morning. SFR assisted Goose Valley and Big Horn Fire Department with the fire, which was classified as both a wildland and structure fire. They were released from the structure portion of the fire at 3:30 pm, while another crew remained on scene for an additional two and a half hours. Read more

At least two fires were (as of 5:30 pm) continuing to burn in Sheridan County this afternoon, but they were not the only two reported. A cold front moved into the area around 4 pm, bringing smoke from a fire in Red Lodge, Montana to the area. Interstate 90 between Laurel and Park City in Montana was closed due to zero visibility according to KULR and the Montana Highway Patrol. Several accidents resulted, and traffic was at a stand still there. Read more

About 1,800 acres of prescribed burns are scheduled to take place as early as April in the Medicine Wheel/Paintrock Ranger Districts of the Bighorn National Forest, according to a media release. The burns are planned for the Beaver Creek Area near Hunt Mountain, as well as Mathews Ridge northeast of Hyattville. In addition to this burn, 1,500 acres are planned in the Prospect Creek area near Granite Pass and Schuler Park, northwest of Burgess Junction. This is part of the Tongue Ranger District. Read more
