Wyoming high school championships culminate this month with the state hunting championships May 30 in Upton. 

Officially called the Youth Hunter Education Challenge, this National Rifle Association-sponsored event allows Wyoming hunters 18 and under who have passed hunter education to showcase their skills and have a good time.

GILLETTE, WY­—Applications for Campbell County Health’s 2015 Junior Volunteer Program are now available. The program is designed for teens ages 13-18 who are interested in giving back to the community, learning new skills, and possibly pursuing a career in the health care industry. Up to 45 junior volunteers are accepted into the program, which begins in June.

The Gillette College Diesel Club will host ‘Dyno Day,’ on Thursday, May 7, giving high school and college students, as well as community members, the opportunity to test their vehicles’ power.

Diesel club members will run Gillette College’s chassis dynamometer on vehicles to measure horsepower.

At about 12:30 today the Special Olympics athletes and their law enforcement partners passed the torch enroute to Laramie for the Special Olympics which begins Thursday. The three teams converged at the Bozeman Trail Steakhouse in Buffalo to pass the torch on to Buffalo. From there, it will go to Casper where another run to Wheatland will take place beginning tomorrow morning. Read more

The Wyoming Highway Patrol, via their weekend media releases, indicates that a fatal accident occurred south of Sheridan near mile marker 31 Saturday evening. The accident, according to the Highway Patrol happened at 8:52 pm.
The vehicle involved was eastbound (south) on I-90 when it drifted off the right side of the roadway. Read more

Typically during the late spring and early summer, dozens of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department's Wildlife Habitat Management Areas begin to open up again for the season. They are closed during the fall and winter to minimize disturbance to elk, deer, and other wildlife. Read more

A grass fire took place a few miles south of Worland on a field behind Vega Brothers on Wednesday night, April 29. According to Worland Fire Captain Brandon Yule, he along with other members of the WFD were paged to the scene just before 5:30pm and stayed on site to extinguish the blaze until almost 8pm.
