Press Release - A three phase trail maintenance project will temporarily close sections of the 1.3 mile Tower Trail while park rangers apply a sealant to the paved trail around the base of Devils Tower. Park visitors will be able to walk the open sections of the trail while some approaches to climbing routes will be limited or may need to be temporarily closed during the project.  Check at

A fatal crash west of Rawlins, Wyoming on July 22nd has resulted in the death of 30 year old Rock Springs, Wyoming resident Steven Gunderson. The crash occurred at 10:39 a.m. on the 22nd near mile post 207 on Interstate 80 approximately four miles west of Rawlins.

Yesterday at Fire Station 1 in Gillette, Campbell County Fire Chief Bill Shank and other fire officials gave an update on the Cedar Draw fire burning north of Gillette. Officials said that there was still a lot of area to contain, but it was estimated about 35% of it had a good solid containment line. Shank said the acres had grown over 3,700.

Press Release - The Cedar Draw Fire is estimated at 2000 acres with 35% containment. Additional crews, engines, and overhead are expected to arrive throughout today. The fire currently has 185 firefighters assigned with an expectation of over 200 by this evening. The fire is threatening structures in the area.

On Sunday July 24th there will be a community prayer for law enforcement in front of the Gillette Police Department and Campbell County Sheriff’s Office. Organizer Luanne Izatt said both events will take place at 1:30 pm on Sunday.
