The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect or suspect vehicle observed shooting at a herd of elk yesterday. South Gillette Game Warden Dustin Kirsch said the incident reportedly happened at 4:30 pm on January 28th. The shooting was reported on the Mackey Road in the Rochelle Hills area.

Several education related bills are making their way through the 63rd Legislative Session, some introduced earlier this month. One of the more controversial bills, which was brought up by former Superintendent of Schools Cindy Hill, is Senate Joint Resolution 0005, which is sponsored by the Joint Education Interim Committee. We've reported numerous times in the past that Sheridan's airport would be receiving about $500,000 worth of grant monies that would go toward improving service. Within the past two years, the airport has seen 19% of its flights cancelled. The Critical Air Task Force that is made up of several individuals from Sheridan County, the city of Sheridan, Chamber of Commerce, and others is working on the issue. The group is hoping to seek a reliable carrier for the airport which would offer a low fare and non-stop service to a larger hub. Senator Mike Enzi has introduced legislation that helps airports such as Sheridan receive critical funds for multiple uses. Read more

The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services has released information regarding unemployment rates for December of 2014, and there is some good news. The State's unemployment rate fell from 4.5% in November to 4.2% in December. That's just slightly lower than it was in December of 2013, at 4.4%. Wyoming still has the nation's unemployment beat. Nationwide, unemployment sits at 5.6%. Read more
