Man Shot And Killed

At about 3:54 a.m. on Thursday November 28th, 2013 Officers from the Gillette Police Department were dispatched to 3210 Alberta Drive after a female reported that her boyfriend had just been shot by someone who had knocked at their front door. She reported that the person(s) who shot her boyfriend had left the area. Officers arrived several minutes later and located a twenty-five year old man who had been shot. The man was transported to the Campbell County Memorial Hospital Emergency Room where he was pronounced dead.
Officers identified several individuals that may have information regarding the incident. As Officers interviewed witnesses, a vehicle that was being sought in connection with the assault was spotted by Law Enforcement near Rapid City, South Dakota. They attempted to stop that vehicle and it fled. The vehicle was stopped near Chamberlain, South Dakota and the driver, a 21 year old from Gillette was taken into custody for charges related to the pursuit.
Information at this time indicates that the crime was not random and that there is no continued danger to the public. Details of the investigation are still being investigated.
