On November 17th at the Gillette College Presentation Hall, the Campbell County Suicide Prevention Coalition will host the International Survivors of Suicide Day Broadcast. Check-In for the event will be 10:45am. During this broadcast by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a diverse panel of individuals bereaved by suicide will address the questions that many survivors face: Why did this happen? How can I cope? Where can I find support?
This event will be open to the public. Individuals are encouraged to RSVP so hosts can make sure not to overbook the space. The broadcast of those left behind after a suicide is described as intense, so counseling services will be available on sight. Preventative services and resources will also be on hand.
The number of suicides in Campbell County for 2012 (13) has already past the total number of suicides for 2011, Christine Johnson is one of those left behind and learning the cope with the tragedy of a teen suicide.
