Westover Road Closed from Highway 50 west to White's Frontier Motors

The City of Gillette announces the closure of Westover Road, west from Highway 50 to approximately White's Frontier Motors due to a water main break. No through-traffic will be allowed on this section of Westover Road until crews have assessed the damage and determined the road is safe for travel. Drivers are asked to use Moonshiner Lane to access the Westover Subdivision until Westover Road re-opens. Highway 50 is open for traffic, and the City of Gillette's Streets Division has sanded the intersection to improve traction. Drivers are asked to drive with caution through the Highway 50/Westover Road intersection.

At the December 17, 2012 City Council meeting, the Council approved a design contract which began the process of replacing approximately one mile of water main that runs underneath Westover Road. "This stretch of pipeline has obviously been giving us problems - some of these incidents have been breaks in the water main, but there have been some contractor 'hits' on the main as well," said Public Information Officer Joe Lunne.
