Arthur W. Mccuin (34) of Gillette was westbound on US 14 and may have been having problems with his vision as he was only wearing his clear prescription glasses. His motorcycle began to drift into the oncoming lane of travel at which time he braked hard which caused the motorcycle to rotate counter clock-wise. The motorcycle went down on its left side sliding into the opposite lane of travel where it was struck by the vehicle driven by Donald R. Hunsecker (66) of Maple Hill, Kansas which was eastbound. Mccuin, who was not wearing a helmet, was totally ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest in the westbound barrow ditch.
Mccuin had only purchased the 2007 Harley-Davidson, 3 days prior to the crash and did not have a motorcycle endorsement on his driver's license. Troopers believe the inexperience and vision limited from a foreign object in his eyes are contributing factors in this crash. Hunsecker and his passenger were not injured.
The crash occurred at milepost 174.9 about 20 miles north of Moorcroft on July 6th, 2013 at 2:50 pm.
