Less than a week into the application process to fill a vacant seat for Ward 2 on the City Council, the list of candidates has already grown to three. Everett Boss, of W. 12th Street and Derek Izzi, of 3417 Bantam Avenue added their names for consideration.
Boss and Izzi join Billy Montgomery, of 4105 Teepee St. for Mayor John Opseth’s former seat. Applications must be received in City Administration by Friday, December 20th at 4 p.m. Potential Ward 2 candidates will be interviewed on Monday, December 30th. At 12:33 am on December 5th, deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 1500 block of East Second Street. A 23-year-old female reported that she had been strangled by her 36-year-old boyfriend. Investigator Gary Sams said that according to the report, the couple had been out drinking and eventually started to argue about the man's teenage daughter. Campbell County Public Land Board voted unanimously to contract with Dan Barks to serve as interim General Manager of CAM-PLEX at a special board meeting on December 3, 2013. Barks served as General Manager of CAM-PLEX for 22 years prior to his February 2013 retirement. The board charged Mr. Barks with leading the search for a new General Manager while keeping CAM-PLEX operations running smoothly. Campbell County Public Land Board intends to reinstate the contract with Prothman Company, executive search company, to assist in the hiring of the next General Manager.
