The vandalism being performed is gang related graffiti by unknown individuals in a group calling themselves the "Valley Boyz" and “Purple Activis Crips”. At 6:16 pm on August 2nd, 2013 the Gillette Police Department responded to the Providence Park area near the new Hillcrest School to search for a 20-year-old man who was last seen in a storm water drainage near the park. Calls to 911 indicated the man had been swept away by storm water. Officers arrived on site and began searching for the man. He was located ad transported to Campbell County Memorial Hospital. At about 5:45pm on August 2nd, tornado warning sirens were activated in Gillette. Campbell County Emergency Management Coordinator David King was in the community of Wright at the time the alarms sounded. King said deputies for the Campbell County Sheriff's Office observed funnel clouds to the northeast of Gillette. King said the call to sound the alert sirens in Gillette was made in the interest of precautionary public safety. He said he was not aware of any touchdown of a funnel cloud or damage. On Thursday night, Campbell County emergency responders were keeping a close eye on the community Wright. This morning, Campbell County Emergency Management Coordinator David King said the town was still assessing the damage after golf ball sized and large marble sized hail struck the town August 1st during the 8 o'clock hour. King said the storm cell began in the Buffalo area in the afternoon, moved over the Savageton area,and then "camped" over the town of Wright causing significant damage from hail stones.
