At the December 17th Gillette City Council Meeting, the council had consideration of a bid award for the Gillette Softball/Baseball Complex. The project bid came from Van Ewing Construction, Inc. in the amount of $9,413,727.31 and was contingent upon the approval of the fiscal year 2012-2013 budget amendment. The costs being considered included the building of four fields and the supporting infrastructure for the Field of Dreams property. Update: Highway 59 has reopened.
A multi-vehicle accident on Highway 59 has closed the highway in both directions at the site of the accident approximately 7 miles south of Gillette. Please drive with caution and slow down for emergency personnel and those involved in the accident. There are reports of at least two injuries.
Please use an alternative route.
In addition, there are multiple wrecks along other parts of Highway 59.

As part of the Bills and Claims portion of the Gillette City Council Meeting on December 17th, the council is expected to grant their approval of funds left over from the city's ECB (Expenditure Control Budget) Account being “reinvested” in city employees in the form of Gold Bucks. Gold Bucks are distributed through the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce and are designed to support local merchants. Gillette City Administrator Carter Napier said that he anticipates every City of Gillette employee will receive $500 worth of Gold Bucks as a one time payment. GILLETTE- Dustin Kirsch is the new senior game warden in south Gillette for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Wyoming game wardens are responsible for wildlife law enforcement, damage claims, and prevention, data collection, and wildlife management duties. At last night's Campbell County School District meeting, trustees received a Facilities update from Associate Superintendent For Instructional Support Dr. Alex Ayers. During Ayer's update on several facility projects that the school district has going, trustee chairperson Linda Jennings requested information on the old Stocktrail Elementary School site. Ayers asked Tim Volk to provide that additional information. Volk who has been the Supervisor Buildings and Grounds for the Campbell County School District for three years told trustees that the demolition project has gotten going again recently.
