The sixth annual Life RU Ready? event takes place this week at Cam-Plex's Energy Hall. Keith Howard, Community Prevention Professional with the Substance Abuse Advisory Council, describes Life RU Ready as a life skills training program that originated in Campbell County Wyoming. Howard says the event is designed to prepare junior high and high school students for real world choices they are often confronted with as well as the consequences of those choices. Mayor Tom Murphy announced this morning that a Sister-City Delegation from the City of Yulin will arrive in Gillette on Tuesday, October 30th for a short visit.
"I am very excited about hosting Mr. Lu Zhiyuan, Mayor of Yulin City, and the entire Sister-City Delegation. The City of Gillette has been working very hard to establish and build a relationship with our Sister-City, and I believe this visit shows how dedicated the Mayor of Yulin City and his delegation are," said Mayor Murphy. The Campbell County Sheriff's Office is looking into a report from an area teenager who says he was bullied into drinking alcohol and then beaten. Captain Roy Seeman says the 15 year old claims he attended a juvenile party east of Gillette on October 13th. The teen told authorities that he was initially not drinking but was later threatened with violence to start consuming alcohol. At 3:45 p.m. to Echeta Rd. near Campbell Co. Concrete for a 1 vehicle rollover, the vehicle also hit a light pole head on. The patient was extricated and transported to CCMH.
At 12 p.m. to the 128 East bound off ramp on Interstate 90 for a medical assist.
At 2:23 p.m. to 562 HWY 50 for a structure fire. A two story barn was found to be fully involved upon arrival of the Fire Department the building was a total loss. Two horse trailers, a flat bed trailer and a boat were also destroyed by the fire. CCFD fire officials place the damage estimates at approximately $75,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The City of Gillette's Engineering Division will host an Open House for the Boxelder Phase 2-B Project at the Campbell County Public Library from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24th. This Open House will include the plans for the Boxelder Road extension from behind the Detention Center to 4-J Road. At about 1:06 PM on October 16th the Campbell County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a reckless driver. It was reported that a green Ford truck nearly rolled at a speed of about 90mph at the intersection of HWY 50 and Southern Drive. Under-sheriff Scott Matheny said that a deputy located the vehicle near Cam-plex and attempted to make a traffic stop. The vehicle did not strop and allegedly went through the intersection of HWY 51 and Garner Lake Road while dodging cars before accelerating from the deputy.

On October 13th at about 5:30 pm, a 27 year old man contacted the Campbell County Sheriff's Office to report a physical fight at a residence on Nepstad Drive. The man said that a argument at the dinner table escalated to the point where a 29 year old female struck him in the head with a frozen corn-dog. According to the initial report the man told a deputy that when the woman hit him with the corn-dog "it hurt and made me cry." The women was arrested for misdemeanor battery.
