At about 11:47 am on April 22, 2013 a fatal crash occurred on Interstate 25. The one vehicle crash happened about 35 miles north of Casper in Natrona County. Jesse G. Ricks (29) of Colorado Springs, CO was northbound on I-25 in the passing lane when he lost control of his vehicle. The roadway was slushy and wet at the time. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway in a broadside slide and went down a steep embankment where it rolled two complete times.
A witness to the crash stopped to check on Ricks. He stated Ricks exited the vehicle and said he was “OK”. The witness then continued up the road approximately 300 yards whereupon he came upon a Trooper who was on an unrelated call. At some point prior to the Troopers arrival back at the crash scene, Ricks had collapsed and was not breathing. The Trooper began CPR however, Ricks was pronounced dead on-scene by responding paramedics.
