Sheridan-The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking information about a bull elk that was poached in Hunt Area 35 west of Buffalo, WY. The bull elk was shot just west of the Circle Park Campground with only the head and backstraps taken from the elk. The remainder of the elk was left to waste.
Buffalo Game Warden Jim Seeman believes the elk was killed between Monday October 28 and Wednesday October 30, 2013. Seeman says, “Evidence indicates a lone individual may have been responsible for killing the elk. The person possibly parked near the locked gate leading into the campground.”
The road leading to the Circle Park Campground is frequently travelled and it is likely someone observed and can recall the description of a vehicle parked at or near the locked gate or a vehicle leaving the area with the elk antlers.
If anyone has information regarding this incident, please contact Game Warden Jim Seeman at 307 684-5223, the STOP POACHING hotline at 1-877-WGFD-TIP (1-877-943-3847) or the Sheridan Regional Office at 307 672-7418. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
