Troopers are investigating a tractor trailer tanker crash this morning approximately 2 miles north of Wheatland.  The crash, which occurred shortly after 3:00 a.m., has resulted in the closure of both north and southbound lanes of Interstate 25 due to the spill of the tankers cargo, crude oil.

Troopers on scene estimate a good portion of the tankers 200 barrels of crude oil have spilled when the tanker trailer was breached during the crash.  Traffic is being diverted onto WYO 320 at Wheatland for northbound traffic and at the US 26 Junction for southbound traffic. Motorists traveling that portion of the Interstate can expect delays due to the re-routing of traffic.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the crash and no details are available at this time as to why the southbound tractor trailer combination became involved in the crash.

The Interstate closure may last several more hours as Troopers work closely with the Wyoming Department of Transportation, Wheatland Fire Department, Platte County Sheriff’s Department, Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality and the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security during the crash investigation and cleanup process.  At this time there is no estimate as to when the roadway may be re-opened to normal traffic.

Extra Troopers have been dispatched to the area to assist with traffic control and to assist in the crash investigation.  The tractor trailer combination is owned by Basin Western Incorporated out of Roosevelt, Utah.
