A fatal accident yesterday evening around 5:50 pm resulted in a partial derailment of a railroad car on WYO 336 in Sheridan County. WYO 336 is better known as Wyarno Road. Daniel Twohy, 43 of Wyarno, was killed when his vehicle slammed into a railroad car of a coal train that was crossing the highway. According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Twohy made no attempt to stop and hit the 73rd rail car, causing the partial derailment.
The train did not stop, as the engineer was unaware it had been struck. The derailment was discovered after the train stopped farther down the track. WYO 336 was closed for two hours to allow for cleanup and accident investigation. The road was reported to be dry, and the weather clear. Twohy was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup. There is no word at this time as to why Twhoy did not stop.
