GILLETTE, Wyo.--The Gillette Camels (19-3, 9-0) finished off the weekend with a 75-60 victory over the Cheyenne Central Indians (4-14, 1-7) at the Castle of Champions on Saturday afternoon.
The first quarter was close throughout the period. There were nine lead changes and three ties in the first stanza with Central holding on to a 24-23 lead at the start of the second period.
Gillette scored five triples in the first quarter, but Central stayed on pace with four, three-pointers. Josh Fearing of Central scored 13 points in the first period of play and would go on to tie Cody Kelley with the game high of 25 points.
In the second quarter, the Camels held the Indians to 10 points while scoring 20 points of their own. Kelley, Tanner Rogen, and Bryce Lyman each had five or more points in the second quarter. Gillette was on top 43-34 at halftime.
In the second half, Gillette took advantage of being sent to the foul line multiple times. The Camels made 13 of their 14 attempts from the charity stripe in the half to help them pull away from the Indians.
Rogen went eight for eight at the line in the game after getting open numerous times down low for Gillette.
The Camels wrap up the regular season against fierce rival Sheridan. The game time is set for 7:30pm, following the girls varsity game at 5:30pm. It will be Senior Night for both Gillette squads.
