Gillette, Wyo.--The Cheyenne Central Lady Indians (10-10, 1-6) gave the Lady Camels (16-3, 7-1) a battle in the first half of Friday night's game. However, Gillette was able to get some space in the second half and come away with a 62-47 win on Senior Night at the Castle of Chaos.
The Lady Camels opened the game with a 6-0 run, but the Lady Indians warmed up and had their first lead at 9-8 in the first quarter. There were eight lead changes and 6 ties in the first half. Gillette was able to come away with a 24-23 lead at halftime.
The Lady Indians were able to tie it up at at 24 to start the third quarter, but once the Lady Camels broke the tie at 26-24, they led for the rest of the game.
Sierra Toms found her sweet spot in the fourth quarter and made nine of her game-high 18 points in the last stanza.
The Lady Camels defense held the Lady Indians to just three baskets from the field- two deuces and a triple- with the rest coming from the free throw line. Sierra Kuno, who led the lady Indians with 13 points, made nine free throws in the second half.
The Lady Camels will look to avenge their lone conference loss on Saturday afternoon. That was by the hands of the Cheyenne East Lady T-birds in Cheyenne on the 25th of January.
