The #1 Gillette Camels are well on their way to their 11th straight state wrestling title after the 1st day of Wyoming High School state championships in Casper at the Events Center.
Overall the Camels have racked up 250 eam points, 78 points in front of 2nd place Cheyenne East Who has 178 points.
The Camels have advanced a total 14 wrestlers into the Semifinals, including 2 each at 113 lbs with Taylor Jeffries and Devon Mauch and at 170 lbs with Taylor Bigelow and Haydn Rawlings. Also into the semis for the Camels are Trent Olson, Evan Smith, Austin Zigray, Kris Miller, Alex Lacasse, Dani Fischer, Jordan Fischer, Lukas Poloncic, Brendon MacKearney and Taylor Barbour.
Then the Camels advanced 9 wrestlers into the finals with Olson, Jeffries, Miller, Lacasse,Dani and Jordan Fischer, Poloncic and Barbour.
Day 2 will feature wrestle backs where the Camels can gain some very valuable points and then the finals should tonight beginning around 5pm and you can watch them by going to www.wyopreps.com
The #1 Moorcroft Wolves started things off at the 2A state wrestling tournament in impressive fashion as they have a 56 point lead over 2nd place Cokeville after the 1st day of action at the Casper Events Center.
Moorcroft racked up 186 team points while Cokeville finished with 130 points after day 1.
The Wolves advanced 11 wrestlers into the Semifinals as Dallas Taylor, Kole Schell, Kenny Sisson, Tyrell Lawrence, Toby Reynolds, Luke Lovett, Preston Neiman, Brad Wagner, Dakota Ray, Tel West and Tanner Allison all will be looking to come away with an individual championship when day 2 begins this morning in Casper.
Making it to the finals from the Wolves are Taylor, Schell, Lawrence, Lovett, West and Allison.
Other wrestlers from NE WY who have advanced to the semis include Upton's Henry Orban and Wright's Trenton Smith, Kodi French and Daniel Magana. French then advanced to finals for the only Battlecats in the finals. Then French was the Kline Battlecat to get to the finals as he won all 3 of his matches by pin.

It's the last weekend of the season, which means it's time to crown state champions.
Highlights of the Sunday, May 12th, legion baseball game between the Laramie Rangers vs. the Jackson Giants, in Casper.
The State Track and Field Championships are Thursday through Saturday at Casper's Kelly Walsh High School.
Because of a shortened season, this weekend's event in Casper is the next to last rodeo before the state finals.
