POWELL, Wyo.--The Pronghorn women (7-1) won their third contest against Colorado Northwestern on Friday, sweeping the Rangely, Colo. School. This time, the game was played at Northwest College in Powell, Wyo. The final was 85-69.
Gillette College went 18 for 28 from the floor in the first half, but was a little rusty from the charity stripe. The Pronghorns went only two for seven from the line in the first stanza. The Spartans had a 44-42 at halftime.
The Pronghorns responded after the intermission. They held Colorado Northwestern to 25 points in the second half, while Gillette College went three for four beyond the arc and four of five from the line.
All five starters for Gillette College finished in double digits with Kallee Wilson leading the pack at 15 points. Bridget Cargal was four of six beyond the arc, finishing with 12 points. The bench for the Pronghorns contributed as well. There were 28 points scored off the bench with Whitney George scoring nine and Mackenzie Lepley with eight points. Lauren Davis, Bailey Roebling and Breanna Thomas combined for a handful of points, but all three were perfect with the shots they did take.
Gillette College was supposed to play the College of Great Falls JV team on Saturday, but due to a death in the family of one of the players, the game was understandably canceled.
The Pronghorns will be spending their Thanksgiving week in Utah. Gillette College will play Salt Lake Community College in Salt Lake City on Wednesday and head to Ephraim, Utah for a two-game Thanksgiving tournament on Friday and Saturday. Gillette College will face Utah State University-Eastern on Friday and host Snow College on Saturday.
