GILLETTE, Wyo.--When you live by the three-pointer, you can die by it as well. That was the case for the Midwest Elite, an all-star team consisting of former college players from Gillette. The Pronghorns (13-2, 2-0) moved to a 12-game win streak with the 107-87 victory.
The Midwest Elite squad filled in for the ABCD Academy at the last minute for Sunday afternoon's game. The ABCD Academy did not show up to the South Campus on Saturday night- that game was canceled.
In the first half, the Midwest Elite led the game once by four points. The game was tied five times, as well. The Midwest Elite attempted 22 triples out of its 43 attempts from the floor in the first half. Of those 22 three-point attempts, only four were converted.
The Pronghorns went 20 for 37 from the floor and made five of its nine free throws in the first half. Gillette College was on top 47-32 at halftime.
In the second half, Gillette College ran away from the Midwest Elite. The Pronghorns led by as many as 28 points in the contest while making 50 percent of its shoots from the field.
Forrest Dorr of the Midwest Elite led all players with 25 points. Muhammad Ahmed led the pronghorns with a double-double, 20 points and 10 boards.
The Pronghorn men head into the holiday break with an overall record of 13-2 and 2-0 in Region IX play. Gillette College will play Miles Community College on Jan. 4th at 5:00pm. You can hear the game on 93.3 The Legend and online at https://www.network1sports.com/station/kled.
