Pronghorn men fall to Tetons in overtime

pronghorn-sports-story The Pronghorn men (6-3) tried to come from behind to send Saturday night’s game into overtime, only to fall 82-80 to the Tetons of Williston State College (7-3) at the South Campus.

With 14 lead change and ties apiece, the game was a fun one to watch. With the Pronghorns down 64-56, Gillette College started a 7-0 run and eventually tied the Tetons at 65 and 71 with less than a minute to go in the game. The Tetons had a 73-71 lead with seven seconds in the game. The Pronghorns had possession of the ball on the end line in their front court. Urbane Bingham banked a two-pointer off the glass from the left low post to tie the game at 73 points with two seconds left. Marquel Curtis of the Tetons had an open look for a three-pointer from the left corner as time expired, but was off the mark.

In overtime, Curtis continued to lead the way for the Tetons, but the Pronghorns stayed stride for stride. Time was just not on the Pronghorns side in the end. At 82-80, with the Tetons on top and 2.5 seconds in the period, a last-chance shot by Andre Marquez from behind the arc and to the left of the key, fell short of going through as time expired.

Curtis had the game high of 39 points. Urbane Bingham led the Pronghorns with 30 points.

The Pronghorn men went 1-1 on the weekend, as they defeated the South Dakota Stars, 80-62 on Friday night. The Pronghorn women (9-1) suffered their first loss Friday afternoon to North Idaho College, the number two team in the NJCAA. The score was 62-56 played at Sheridan College. The women went back to their winning ways on Saturday afternoon, as they defeated the University of Great Falls JV team, 94-38 at Sheridan College.

The next broadcasted game will be the Pronghorn women taking on Eastern Wyoming College at the South Campus at 7 pm Friday on 93.3 The Legend and online at https://www.network1sports.com/station/kled.
