
Gillette, Wyo.--The #12 Gillette College Pronghorn women (21-4, 8-3) made history Wednesday night. They won their school-best 21st game of the season. The women did this by downing the Lady Pioneers of Miles Community College, 79-67, at the South Campus.
The game started out with the two squads exchanging the lead until the Pronghorns secured it for the last time at 21-19. Gillette College was able to make a couple more deuces than the Lady Pioneers in the first half to give them a 39-31 lead at halftime.
Miles turned the ball over 14 times in the first half. Alicia Carline was strong around the basket defensively for Gillette College and batted away 4 balls that came in her direction.
Rebounds were big in the second half for the Pronghorns. They were down in that category after the first half at 24-21, but finished with 49 boards to the Lady Pioneers 39.
Christina Davis had a career-high 23 points for the Pronghorns, who played with a limited roster of eight players that dressed. Davis had 13 points after the first half and was able to make her mark beyond the arc, as she scored three of her four three-pointers in the second half. Alicia Carline finished with 16 points, which doubled up her average of 8.2 a game.
Tessa Rouane led Miles Community College with 20 points in the game.
The Pronghorns take on Western Wyoming Community College at 3:00pm on Saturday at the South Campus. Gillette College will look to avenge the one-point overtime loss Western Wyoming handed the Pronghorns in Rock Springs earlier in the season.
