Pronghorn men lose heartbreaker in OT

Gillette, Wyo.--The Pronghorns (16-12, 10-6) and Trappers of Northwest College (20-10, 9-7) gave the fans at the South Campus a great game to watch. Unfortunately, the Pronghorns fell in overtime as Jeffrey Solarin of Northwest sank a three from the left corner as time expired to give the Trappers a 75-73 win.

The Trappers had the momentum for the majority of the first half. However, with minutes left in the half, the Pronghorns were able to tie up the ballgame at 28-28. The Trappers were able to get one last bucket to hold a 30-28 lead at halftime.

 

In the second half, Gillette College scored first to tie it up at 30, but after that, Northwest regained the lead. Gillette College came back to tie it at 50, thanks to the play of Dwight Anderson And Andre Marquez.

 

From that point, the two teams traded the lead. With seconds to go and Gillette down 63-61 Marquez tossed in an inbound pass from the left side of the end line on the Pronghorns' front court to Myles Henry. Henry got the roll on the shot and was fouled in the process. Henry didn't make the free throw.

 

The Trappers had the ball with three seconds left, but Jayden Walsh stole a pass as time expired.

In overtime, the Pronghorns and trappers exchanged the lead multiple times with Pietro de Andrade scoring the majority of them for the Trappers. With seconds left in the game and Gillette College up 73-72, Northwest College took it up the floor and gave it to their star player, Jeffery Solarin, in the left corner. Wide open, he made the three pointer as time expired to give the Trappers the win.

 

Gillette College had chances to pad their lead in overtime, but missed some crucial free throws in overtime.

 

Solarin led all players with 21 points.Henry led the Pronghorns with 20 points.
