Gillette, Wyo.--On the 23rd of January, the Pronghorn women (25-5, 12-4) lost to the Northwest College Lady Trappers (15-15, 8-8), 96-79, in Powell, Wyo. On Saturday night, Keke Wright and Alicia Carline finished with double doubles and Kiela Garner and Matty Jolovich fished with double digits, as Gillette College defeated the Lady Trappers, 65-52.
Gillette College allowed Northwest College to stay in the game in the first half, despite leading by as many as 12 points in the first half. The Lady Trappers took advantage of opportunities at the free throw line, making six out of their seven attempts. Gillette College held on to a 28-24 lead in the first half.
In the second half, Carline made sure to keep Northwest College away from under the basket; she finished with 16 rebounds in the game. The Pronghorns offensively shot 41.2 percent from the floor, almost 10 percent better than the Lady Trappers. Gillette College was also successful from the charity stripe and made nine of their ten attempts.
The Pronghorns were thieves as well; they stole the ball 17 times in the game and caused the Trappers to force 25 turnovers.
Kennedy Allen of Northwest College led all players with 19 points. Wright and Garner led the Pronghorns with 15 points each.
Gillette College will be the #3 seed from the north sub region at the Region IX tournament that will be held at Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, Neb.
