The Gillette Roughriders fell to Spearfish, 5-2, this morning in Rapid City's Pev Evans Tournament.
Andrew Youngs and Alex King led the Roughriders offensively. Young was 2-for-3 at the plate. King went 3-for-4.
Austin Tennant took the loss on the mound, as he struck out seve, gave up eight hits, and allowed two earned runs.
In their second game of the morning, Mitchell lumped out to a 4-0 third inning lead, but the Roughriders scored two runs in the fourth, and two more in the fifth to tie the game at four.
That was the score in the bottom of the seventh, when Gillette Pitcher Ian Durgin walked in the winning run, and the Roughriders were beaten 5-4.
Durgin struck out two and gave up seven hits, as he took the loss on the mound.
Austin Tennant led Gillette offensively, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and an RBI.
Gillette will face Davy Jones, tomorrow, as the Pev Evans Tournament continues. They'll wrap it up against Post 22 on Sunday evening.
