The Gillette Rustlers hosted the first round of the Class A State Baseball Tournament, yesterday, at Roughrider Stadium.
They fell to Laramie, 10-3, and will take on Evanston, at 12:30 this afternoon in Gillette.
Rustlers Coach Garrett Schultz says, win or lose, their participation in the State Tournament serves a purpose in the big picture.
“The whole goal for our 'A' squad guys, essentially, is to get them ready to be Riders next year, and being in this type of a tournament, against this kind of competition, helps establish that goal and helps develop these kids,” said Schultz.
The Rustlers' Hunter Sylte was recently named 2nd Team All District in the North region.
