Press Release - A traffic stop for speeding on November 7th resulted in the seizure of approximately 59 pounds of marijuana. The traffic stop occurred at 12:26 p.m. at mile post 51 on Interstate 80 eastbound approximately 11 miles east of Lyman, Wyoming.

Matthew Hutton of Rozet Elementary, and his art teacher, Brenna Chafee, were recognized at the November 18th City Council meeting for Matthew's winning entry in the 2014 Christmas Pin contest.

Those who may have cats that venture outdoors and interact with other felines may want to take note, according to Second Chance Sheridan Cat Rescue, several area veterinarians are reporting cases of FPV, feline-panleukopenia, pronounced "pan-luke-o-penia" virus, which has the potential to be fatal. FPV is a virus that attacks the cat's immune system, and causes dehydration. Unfortunately it is often fatal if left untreated, and is highly contagious.

Mike Quast of the Johnson County YMCA gave a presentation at the Chamber Luncheon on Wednesday detailing plans to expand into an additional building.  The YMCA has been in their current facility since 1978.  Up until the past few years, they have been able to make the space accommodate high traffic attendance for exercise classes, swim club, day care and youth activities.  Although the space has become a little too tight...

It was nearly a full house at this afternoon's open house and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Sheridan College Agripark, a 45,000 square foot facility that began construction in April of this year. The facility can be used for almost any rodeo activity, and will eventually be able to be leased by the general public starting in January of next year. Sheridan College showed off the arena with bucking horses this afternoon. While the sight of several fire trucks, big spotlights, and ambulances next to LBM Restaurant in Sheridan last night may have looked as if there was a real emergency, signs posted around the perimeter indicated this was simply a training exercise. Fire crews from around Sheridan County, including Goose Valley, Big Horn, and Sheridan Fire Rescue, along with teams from Rocky Mountain Ambulance all participated in what is the final training of the year out of four.
