POWELL, Wyo.--The Pronghorn mens team (10-2) moved its winning streak to nine games with a 112-101 victory over Northwest College on Wednesday night. The Pronghorn women (8-4) lost their third out of four games to Northwest College, 80-70.
The Gillette College Pronghorn basketball teams wanted to drive to Powell, Wyo. on Tuesday to be well-rested for Wednesday's games against Northwest College. Closed road and unsafe conditions forced the squads to drive the four-hour trek the day of the games.
It didn't have a negative impact the Pronghorn men, who led by as many as 23 points over the Trappers. Six players finished with double figures for Gillette in a game in which the Pronghorns led all but once.
Gillette College was led by Renard Suggs. He made 29 points in the game, with 24 of them beyond the arc. Suggs only missed three out of his 11 triple attempts. Renard's brother, Rickey, had a stellar night off the bench as well. Rickey finished with 16 points, the third highest contribution on the scoreboard for the Pronghorns.
Gillette College also took advantage of being fouled in the game. The team made 64.7 percent of its free throws, scoring 33 points from the line.
The women trailed the entire contest against the Lady Trappers. Kiela Garner had a nice game for the Pronghorns, as she finished with 26 points.
Both Pronghorn teams will play rival Sheridan College at the South Campus on Saturday. If you plan on attending the games, Gillette College fans are encouraged to wear blue. You can hear both games on 93.3 The Legend and online at https://www.network1sports.com/station/kled. The women tip off at 5:30, the men at 7:30pm.
