LANDER – Testing by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department has found chronic wasting disease (CWD), a fatal neurological disease of deer, elk and moose, in a deer from Fremont County in Deer Hunt Area 36. This brings the known total of CWD deer hunt areas in the Lander Region to five; areas 36, 87, 97, 98 and 157.

Recently moving to Sheridan from Casper, Kathy Parsley is on a mission to increase awareness about animal abuse. In particular, she wants the chaining of dogs to end. Parsley has a petition with about 1,000 signatures, which she hopes will lead to legislation for more humane tethering and a more specific definition of adequate shelter for outdoor animals. Earlier this morning, the Buffalo Light of Hope Breakfast took place at the Bozeman Trail Steakhouse. Special guests included Nancy Schiffer, wife of the late State Senator John Schiffer, and former Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal. A 2 vehicle accident took place off of Big Horn Avenue and 10th Street in Worland just after 10am on Thursday morning, October 23. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded Sheridan County numerous grants this year. At the Commissioners Meeting Tuesday, Dave Coleman, Emergency Management Coordinator in Sheridan County, spoke about the first two grants, one of which is set aside for equipment, the other for the Sheriff's Office.
